Outlaws Hunter Review

StakeLogic has invited players to join them for a Wild West adventure plenty of times already, but they have yet to release a smash hit in the genre. Outlaws Hunter is not likely to become an alpha gunslinger either, but this is still a somewhat understated release that’s well worth checking out for fans of the genre.

The 5x4 gallows grid is placed in the middle of the main street of what looks like a pretty dead town, with tumbleweeds passing by in the background. The expanding multiplier wilds can create sudden sizable wins out of the blue, however, and you get sticky multiplier wilds up to x500 in the bonus round. Nothing overly new to see here perhaps, but tension will build when the wild action erupts.

Outlaws Hunter Slot Features

The Super Stake can be turned on or off between base game spins, and this ante bet feature doubles your bet size when it’s switched on. It’s very unclear what the benefit is, but the paytable states that you get “an extra feature” with a hit rate of around 1 in 96 spins. This could mean that your bonus round chances are increased (doubled?), but it’s hard to tell.

The premium symbols pay between 6 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and Wild symbols can land anywhere to step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Wilds pay the same as the top-tier gunslinger symbol, should you land a win with nothing but wilds.

Wilds come with special abilities in all stages, and the 1x1 sized wild expands to cover the entire reel when it appears on a base game spin. The expanded wild reveals a random outlaw, and you get a wild multiplier of x2 to x10 for Billy the Kiddo, x5 to x15 for El Mexicano, x7 to x17 for Bella Star, and x10 to x20 for Butcher Cassidy.

If more than one multiplier wild is involved in the same win, the multiplier values are added together before boosting the win. The Angry Bear outlaw wild can be revealed on reel 3 only, and this triggers the Tomahawk Wild feature. Tomahawks are thrown at all low-value symbols, and this turns them into Angry Bear Wilds.

The Bonus Round triggers from 3 scatters anywhere in view, and a wheel spins up front to give you between 5 and 20 free spins. The regular sized 1x1 wilds come with multipliers between x2 and x500 in the bonus round, and wilds are sticky for the duration of the feature.

Review Summary

We are spoiled with plenty of gritty and highly engaging wild west slots already, and it’s a rough genre to compete in. StakeLogic has tweaked the math model to appeal to a different player segment than the biggest guns out there, and Outlaws Hunter is a decent trip to the western frontier by all means. It knows it cannot outgun the heavy hitters, so it wisely doesn’t even pretend to attempt that.

Clarity about the Super Stake benefit has been an issue with this developer before, and it’s an even bigger issue in this release. Players need to know what they are paying extra for, and that’s hardly too much to ask. The wild multipliers can deliver solid payouts also in the base game, and even more so in the bonus round.
