The two games are similar in name and theme only, although this follow-up release comes with a more modern visual presentation. While the original game was a cartoonish and feature rich affair, Jurassic Island 2 has a more realistic visual style combined with very simple gameplay. Gone are expanding wilds and a choice of 4 bonus rounds, as all you get here is regular wilds and stacked T-Rex symbols in the base game. Not exactly earth-shattering innovation in other words.

The bonus round also lacks excitement in our view, even though it comes with a win guarantee and multiplier wilds. The 1,024 ways to win is the key to larger payouts, and you can pocket up to 23,290x your stake, which is solid. However, it feels far-fetched when you play, but at least the Wild Trail feature seems to trigger quite frequently. Overall, this is an underwhelming sequel to a game that, like the dinosaurs, sunk into oblivion years ago.
