Once in a while a new Lucha Libre slot is released, and it’s a neat little niche Play’n Go has taken a stab at with Luchamigos. This high-flying, high-energy Mexican freestyle wrestling sport comes with characters that are as colorful as their costumes, and the masks the wrestlers wear are seen as a symbol of honor and respect. You get to meet Gran Chico, Roco Elastico, and Muchas Salvajes in this game, and they serve as wild symbols with modifier extras.

The wrestling ring is placed in the middle of the main street of a typical Mexican small town, and the 3 Amigo Wilds need their spicy power chile symbols to unleash their respective and bouncy wild modifiers. This is not the case in the bonus round, however, where Amigo Wilds are also collected to award extra spins and modifier Hot Spins. It can end in a climactic final Hot Spin if you max out the meter, and this can lead to payouts up to 10,000x your stake.

Review Summary

We count no less than 21 installments in the Luchador slots genre at the time of writing, and none of them can be said to have achieved massive and lasting success. A game called Numero Uno is suitingly enough holding the number one spot in our SlotRank system for now, but we have a feeling Play’n Go’s Luchamigos has a good chance at wrestling the top spot from this 2022 Games Global release. For the record, we hope it does, as Luchamigos is a far better game in our humble opinion.

Luchamigos stays true to the Lucha Libre spirit, and it’s good fun seeing the different masked wild characters bounce around the grid when their respective modifiers play out. You get more of the same in the bonus round, when the power chile symbol is no longer needed, and via the chile meter. Maxing out the meter isn’t all that easy, however, so don’t expect the climactic Ultimate Hot Spin finish for each bonus round trigger.

Up to 10,000x can be wrestled out of this game on a good day, which is solid, and it’s hard to not have a good time with a bouncy, colorful, and action-packed game like Luchamigos.
