Mine and Melt Review

The Swedish developer, Quickspin, has decided to give you a taste of their homeland with this release, and Mine and Melt is a worthwhile nugget in the gold mining genre. The 4x4 grid comes with 256 ways to win, and it’s placed in a forest opening with a massive mountain in the backdrop. This is where the 3 Swedish prospectors do their mining, and they can appear as full-reel multiplier wilds at random times in the base game.

The feature is called Three Lucky Swedes, and they look like they are brothers or at least closely related. You’re taken into the mine shaft below the ground when the Mine & Smelt Bonus Round triggers, and it comes with gold nugget prize symbols that can merge together to make room for more to land. A smeltdown multiplier can boost your win as well, and the Super version comes with an extra life and a higher smeltdown mu.ltiplier. The 5,504x potential is decent, and this release is well worth a closer look for mining slot fans.

Mine and Melt Slot Features

You win by landing matching symbols anywhere on 3 to 4 adjacent reels starting with reel 1, and the mid-level symbols pay between 2.5 and 5 x your stake for 4 of a kind wins. The top-tier gold bar symbol pays 15x your stake for 4 of a kind, and there are no regular wild symbols in this game.

You do get the Three Lucky Swedes feature at random times though, and it converts reels 2 to 4 into full reel wilds when it triggers.

Mine and Melt Slot Gameplay

The fully stacked wild symbols not only step in for pay symbols to help complete wins, they also come with a multiplier between x2 and x4.

You can land the bonus scatter symbols on all the reels, and you need 3 in view to trigger the Mine & Melt Bonus Round. You start with 3 “lives” in your tally, and only blanks, meltdown symbols, or sticky gold nugget Collector symbols will appear in the feature. The gold nuggets come with a starting prize of 2x your stake, and the spin tally resets to 3 each time at least one new sticky gold nugget lands.

The feature ends when you run out of “lives”, and adjacent gold nuggets with matching prize values will merge into one symbol. This frees up space to make it easier to land new symbols, and the two gold nugget prizes are added together. Smeltdown symbols appear with x2 multipliers at random times, and this multiplier will then boost all gold nugget prizes in view.

Also future nuggets that land gets the same boost.

There is a Super version of the bonus round, and you need 4 scatters in view to trigger it. This gives you 4 “lives” in the tally instead of 3, and the Smeltdown multiplier is x4 instead of x2.

Non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, may purchase the bonus round for 60x the stake. The Super Bonus Round will set you back 330x your stake in comparison, and the bonus buy RTP depends on which RTP version of the game you’re playing. The top-tier RTP version gives you a 96.35 % RTP for the regular bonus buy, and a 96.59 % RTP for the Super version.

The 200 Spins Mine and Melt Slot Experience

Review Summary

Most mining slots play out somewhere in North America, so it’s nice to catch a glimpse of the Nordic countryside instead for a change. The 3 prospector Swedes certainly look the part, and they can appear as fully stacked wilds to land you decent base game wins. That’s the only feature you get in the base game, and the main attraction is clearly the Mine & Melt Bonus Round. It’s inspired by the puzzle game 2048, and it’s a clever twist to the regular hold & win tale.

You’re taken deep underground as the feature starts, and it plays out with the mine shaft as the backdrop.

Mine and Melt Slot Gameplay 807

It’s good fun to merge gold nugget prize symbols, and the smeltdown symbol comes in handy to effectively boost your total win. The super version of the feature will not trigger all that often, perhaps, but Mine and Melt is a clever and innovative release nonetheless. The 5,504x potential is decent as well, but you will be dealing with customizable RTP ranges.

Pros

  • Reels 2-4 can turn wild at random times
  • The wilds come with multipliers up to x4
  • FS w/ merging prize nuggets and x2 multiplier
  • Super FS w/ extra life and x4 multiplier
  • Win up to 5,504x your stake

Cons

  • Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
