Clearly inspired by their own Megaways title, Dreams of Macau, PG Soft’s third installment in the Infinity saga takes you on a trip to the excotic Indonesian island paradise. Or so you would think at least, but in reality you never get further than the airport. The alluring palm beach sunset is always in the background though, reminding you where you could be sipping coconut drinks if you somehow managed to tap the game’s 3560x potential.

PG Soft shows no interest in further developing anything with this release, and Bali Vacation Infinity Reels follows pretty much the same blueprint as their 2 previous efforts. It’s all about adding reels to increase the win multiplier. The bonus round comes with high value symbols only, and the unlimited progressive multiplier doesn’t reset between Infinity sequences.

As you understand already, the Infinity engine is at the core of the gameplay. Landing a winning combo of 5+ matching symbols adds another reel on the right-hand side, and the process repeats ad infinitum as long as you keep improving upon your winning combination. Wilds can help you out along the way, and each added reel increases the unlimited progressive win multiplier with +1.

At random times during a base game spin the No Poker Symbols feature can trigger.

This simply means that all the low-value royal (card suit) symbols are removed from the reels, leaving you with only high value symbols, wilds and scatters.

The latter comes in the form of 2 tickets and a passport, and you need 3 scatters anywhere in the same Infinity sequence to trigger the bonus round. You start out with 8 free spins, but each new scatter you land awards 2 extra spins. All low-value royal symbols are removed during the whole bonus round, so you will only play with premium symbols.

The progressive win multiplier starts at 1x, and it will increase by +1 per reel you add. The big difference from that base game is that the multiplier value does not reset between spins. You can also retrigger the bonus round by landing 3+ scatters in the same Infinity sequence.

Review Summary

When we first heard the title, Bali Vacation, we didn’t imagine that the whole game would take place in a dull airport. Certainly an original choice by PG Soft, but combined with the Infinity mechanics, it’s a bit of a double whammy. Not only will you never get to “the end of the line” with this engine, but you’ll also never actually get to the game’s stated destination. Not even the bonus round takes you there, but somehow you’re already there according to the backdrop.

It’s all a bit confusing to be honest, but at least the stats are solid. The 96.71 % RTP is well above average, and you can win up to 3560x your stake. How realistic that potential is remains to be seen, but facing off against eternity should carry matching rewards.

All in all, this release does nothing to bring the engine forward. Moreover, it unwittingly puts the engines biggest challenge on full display - namely the unsatisfactory notion of never really getting to wherever you are going.
