Candy Links is a 5-reel, 5-row slot with 3125 pay ways. The game does not use a cluster pays engine or cascading when combinations are formed. On the reels, you will see the familiar candy symbols, chocolate bombs which are the scatters, coin symbols, and a wheel of fortune symbol. Located next to the reels is an additional 5x5 grid which is for the Hurricane Links feature.

Super Stake

As the game loads, and at any time during play, you can activate or deactivate the Super Stake mode. The Super Stake increases your bet by 25% for extra chances of winning bigger prizes, and in the case of this slot, additional Bonus symbols are added to the reels, which doubles your chances of triggering the Free Spins.

Free Spins

The Free Spins are activated by landing 3 or more Scatters (Chocolate Bombs) anywhere in view on the reels. Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters, awards 10, 15, and 20 Free Spins, respectively. With each Free Spin, the Wild symbol can have a multiplier ranging from 1x-3x, which is added to the cumulative multiplier meter.

The multiplier is applied to each Free Spin win. The Free Spins feature cannot be retriggered.

Hurricane Links

The Hurricane Links feature is central to this slot and can result in other features and wins. Next to the reels is a 5x5 grid and situated in the centre is a Wheel of Fortune symbol. As you play, when Coin symbols land with values on them, they are transferred to the equivalent position on the Hurricane Links grid and remain there. When 5 adjacent coins, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally are present on the Hurricane Links grid, all values on the coins are paid and the Hurricane Links grid resets.

Wheel of Fortune

In the middle of the Hurricane Links grid is a Wheel of Fortune symbol.

Whenever a Hurricane Links combination is formed with the Wheel of Fortune symbol, it triggers the Wheel of Fortune bonus. There are 3 different wheels each with bigger prizes. You first start with the Mini Wheel, which offers prizes of 5x, 10x, 20x, and Upgrade. If the wheel stops on Upgrade, you get to spin the Major Wheel (second wheel) which offers prizes of 10x, 20x, the mini and major jackpots, and Upgrade. Once again, if the wheel stops on Upgrade, you then get to spin the Grand Wheel, which offers the mini, major and grand jackpots.

Candy Links Bonanza 200 Spins Experience

To get a good feel for Candy Links Bonanza, we took it for our renowned 200 Spins test. Things started fairly slow with the occasional combination here and there, however, we did start accumulating coins on the Hurricane Links grid fairly quickly.

In a short time, we were able to trigger a win on the Hurricane Links which paid out all the prizes on the respective coins, after which the grid reset. Anxious to try out the Free Spins, we opted for the “Buy Free Spins” option, which cost 80 coins. The reels began spinning and 3 chocolate bombs landed which awarded 10 Free Spins. After some Free Spins, the Hurricane Links triggered with the Bonus symbol in the middle and awarded the Wheel of Fortune where we won the Mini Jackpot. The game returned to the Free Spins feature which played out without any major winnings. Overall, we won 107.68 during the Free Spins, which is not fantastic considering we spent 80 to trigger the feature.

Review Summary

There is no denying that Candy Links Bonanza has plenty of bonus features. The game is highly intuitive and easy to play, and even if you don’t read the helpfile, within a few minutes you will figure things out.

The developers, Hurricane Games, have clearly put a fair amount of thought and effort into the game but unfortunately, the theme in our opinion is tired. The general payouts are a little on the low side, so you will need to bank on the bonus features for some decent-sized payouts. Overall, we enjoyed playing Candy Links Bonanza and it was entertaining.
