The latter comes with wilds moving around, and this is also the core feature in Crystal Catcher. It plays out on a 7x7 grid set inside a mining shaft, and it gets filled with crystal symbols of different colors per spin. Cascading wins can keep your winning streak going, but what you really want is the Crystal Catcher feature.

This feature is key to larger base game wins, and it’s also your only way into the bonus round. The Wild Beetle moves around to collect special non-paying crystal symbols, and its multiplier keeps increasing as it partakes in cluster wins. It can also collect instant prize symbols worth up to 500x, and, if you’re lucky, the bonus symbol. The bonus round gives you more of the same, and the Wild Beetle multiplier never resets for payouts up to 5,000x your stake.

You win by landing 5 to 16+ matching gemstone symbols in a cluster anywhere on the grid, and a 5 symbols win awards between 0.2 and 2 x your stake.

On the upper end, a 16+ symbols win awards between 12.5 to 100 x your stake, and the red gemstone is the top-tier symbol. The Crystal Catcher Feature triggers when you land a Wild Beetle in view together with a Crystal Symbol, Bonus Crystal Symbol, or Instant Prize Symbol. The Wild Beetle multiplier increases by +1 per symbol it collects of these 3, and it leaves behind a wild beetle with the same multiplier value as the moving wild beetle multiplier currently has achieved.

The Instant Prize symbols come with prizes of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 30x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 300x, or 500x your stake.

The prizes are collected when the wild beetle flies to land on the instant prize symbol, and the multiplier will boost the prize value to give you an instant win.

When a Wild Beetle lands on and collects a Bonus Crystal Symbol, you trigger the Bonus Round after the current cascading sequence comes to an end. You get 7 free spins, and the Wild Beetle is persistent between free spins. Any left behind gold wild beetle symbols are removed per cascade though, but the multiplier of the wild beetle will keep increasing for as long as the bonus round lasts.

The Ante Bet feature can be turned on between base game spins, and this will cost you 20 % more per spin (increases the RTP from 94.3 to 94.4 %). We enjoyed the Oompa Loompa inspired soundtrack in this simple little mining gem slot from Push Gaming, and the pace of the game is excellent as well.

The gemstone/crystal symbols come with different colors and sizes, and the Wild Beetle sticks out like a sore thumb in the ocean of multicolored crystals. It makes sense that the Wild Beetle takes center stage like this, as it is key to larger payouts in all stages of the game.

It’s not really all that useful until it starts to move in the Crystal Catcher feature though, but then it can collect up to solid instant prizes, as well as possibly triggering the bonus round. This is not the most brutal installment we’ve seen from Push Gaming, but Crystal Catcher is a solid mid-range release with a decent 5,000x potential. It’s not a contender for their best game ever by any means, but most players will probably have a good time with this one for a while.
