The Pocketz Series from Hacksaw is a range of minimalist games, tailor-suited with the mobile experience in mind. Miami Multiplier is a good example, as Frutz is clearly a follow-up to this even more basic installment. This game would have a strong zen vibe if it weren’t for the rather unfitting soundtrack. It can luckily be turned off separately from the otherwise pleasant sound effects, however.

The layers of different color papercut visuals make this a unique experience, and even the kirigami-style symbols are made of paper. There is nothing flimsy about the math model however, and you can look forward to a high risk/reward experience with a solid 10,000x potential. The wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols, and it will thus help you form winning clusters. Speaking of, 11+ matching premium fruit symbols are worth between 50x and 100x, while the low-value royals are all worth 20x your stake for 11+ matching in a cluster.

The Cascading Wins feature removes all winning symbols from the grid, and new symbols will then drop from above to fill the gaps.

Review Summary

The papercut artsy visuals make this game stick out from the get-go, but a more relaxed soundtrack would probably have been a better match. Outside of that, Frutz is a refreshingly simple grid slot, free from all the fireworks and bells and whistles you usually get. There’s no meters to charge here, and no overload of modifiers being paraded in all sorts of colorful ways.

Instead, you get a simple cluster pays cascading wins base game, where the occasional mystery multiplier sequence awards payouts large enough to keep you afloat. Most of the excitement is contained in the bonus round, where the multiplier keeps building to unknown heights, and payouts up to 10,000x your stake can be landed.

The highest multiplier we achieved during testing was 157x, and it’s a thrill to see relatively small clusters suddenly award massive payouts.
