In medieval Scandinavia, Holmgang was a way to legally settle disputes between 2 parties. The duel would be fought either to first blood, or to death, and StakeLogic’s Viking Smash seems to have found inspiration in this rather rough concept of justice. The blue-haired and red-haired viking warriors look equally mean, and they appear on opposite sides of the reels as walking wilds in the base game.

You’ll have to decide up front, or at least between spins, if you want to turn on the Super Stake ante bet option. It will cost you twice as much per spin, and the benefit is a randomly triggered wild feature on the occasional non-winning spin.

You get 2 to 6 wilds randomly added to reels 1 and 5 whenever it triggers, so it’s something to consider.

The 2 walking wild viking symbols land on reels 1 and 5, and move towards the opposite side per respin. You get a free respin per step the wilds take, and the feature ends when no more walking wilds are present on the reels. If 2 walking wilds meet on the same row, you trigger the Bonus Round.

Viking-themed games always contain some excitement based solely on theme alone, and the clashing walking wild feature adds plenty of action to the base game. Paired with the Pay Both Ways system, these walking wilds being added on both sides can really wreak some havoc when you’re on a roll. Many times the pay both ways engine seems like a superfluous gimmick, but here it meshes perfectly with the core feature.

Also, keep in mind that all respins are free as long as walking wilds are present, providing you with plenty of bonus spins outside of the free spins round. Speaking of, the bonus round might not stick out too much from the base game, despite wilds landing everywhere.

We are unsure if the Super Stake is worthwhile in this game, as you get plenty of walking wild action without the randomly triggered feature anyway.
