Relax Gaming has seen decent success with their previous - and first - collaborative effort with the CasinoGrounds streaming community, and Beast Mode is visually similar to Iron Bank, at least with regards to the pastel color scheme and the anthropomorphic animal characters. The bank robbing leopard is long gone though, and replaced by a bodybuilder Lion that looks like he’s hardly breaking a sweat bench pressing at least 550 pounds in the Santa Monica Muscle Beach outside gym.

The 3 bonus rounds are fronted by 3 other mean-looking bodybuilder animals, namely a baseball bat wielding rhino, a molotov cocktail mohawk alligator and a blinged-up knuckleduster shark that can be seen shadowboxing on the rooftop. The pace of the game is excellent, but the 25,000x potential is almost half of what the predecessor, Iron Bank, offers. This is hardly a deal-breaker though, and Beast Mode is a highly enjoyable follow-up with plenty going for it.

The premium symbols consist of kettlebells, roller-skates, dumbbells, ghettoblasters and the flexing bodybuilding Lion as the top-tier symbol. The premiums pay between 2.5 and 25 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the bling necklace Wild symbol steps in for all pay symbols to help complete winning combos. The wild holds no value of its own, and it appears on reels 2-6 only.

All winning symbols are removed via the Cascading Wins mechanic, making room for new and/or existing symbols to drop down to fill the gaps. This process repeats as long as you keep winning, which gives you indefinite winning streaks from a single spin.

You will trigger the Random Mystery Spin feature in the base game at random times, and it awards a minimum of 1 mystery symbol.

The mystery symbols reveal a randomly selected matching symbol, and they remain in play for the whole cascading sequence. They change to a new symbol type per cascade though, but pure mystery symbol wins is not enough to keep the cascades going. You need to involve non-mystery symbols as well.

You trigger the Bonus Round when 3-4 bonus scatters are collected in the same cascading sequence, and landing only 3 scatters gives you the option of gambling for the top-tier feature that you get directly from 4 scatters. You can choose between 3 different features, and each feature comes with either +1, +2 or +3 extra spins symbols to top you up.

The Mystery Symbols Bonus Round comes with 6 free spins (or 10 in the top-tier version), and all mystery symbols that appear drop to the lowest possible position. They remain in play for the duration of the feature, revealing a randomly chosen matching symbol per spin and cascade.

A special Bomb symbol expands the 4 middle reels by +1 row when it lands, and these reels can get up to 7 positions in total. You get +3 extra spins per row increase, and a maxed out grid gives you 38,416 win ways.

The Multiplier Ladder Bonus Round starts you out with 8 free spins (or 9 in the top-tier version), and the multiplier ladder goes as follows: x1 to x20, x25, x30, x35, x40, x45, x50, x60, x70, x80, x90, x100, x150, x200, x300, x400 and x500. Review Summary

There aren’t all that many bodybuilder slots out there, if any, and certainly none as engaging and well-made as Beast Mode. The late 80s retro vibe combines perfectly with the pastel heavy color scheme, and this is a powerful follow-up to the previous Relax/CasinoGrounds collaboration, Iron Bank.

Granted, the 25,000x potential has almost been sliced in half, but it’s still more than solid enough for streamers looking to enter ‘printing’ mode.

What’s missing is an actual ‘Beast Mode’ though, as some kind of ante bet option would perhaps have been a good idea given the title of this game. For streamers, the bonus buy option is probably more important though, and it’s reasonably priced at 80x. Many times you’ll burn through a bonus round with little to show for it, but all 3 options can flex a solid muscle pump when things go your way.
