Can you imagine a movie where Indiana Jones falls in love with Lara Croft. The Tarzan and Jane original version made more sense in our view, as these are characters long-since etched into the collective memory bank. The math model is close to being identical, and all the features are also the same. The base game is all about combining the features of the love duo, hopefully generating screens full of Nick symbols and/or wilds. This can only lead to 300x payouts at the most however, so you need the sticky wilds bonus round to crack the 2,101x potential.

Nick appears on both the top paying symbol and the wild. He’s worth 6x your stake for 5-oak as a regular symbol, but his value increases to 10x your stake for 5 on a payline as a wild symbol.

Per usual, the wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combinations.

At random times, Nick will appear and trigger the Jungle Treasure feature. He will turn a random amount of symbols into his own symbol, and this feature comes with a win guarantee. Alternatively, he can add extra scatter symbols instead, and this might be enough to trigger the bonus round.

The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3 scatters anywhere on the same spin, and this awards 10 free spins.

Review Summary

Being essentially a reskin of Lord of The Wilds, Wild Expedition feels a bit cheap. Replacing Tarzan and Jane with some unknown, generic Hollywood-lookalike love duo called “Nick” and “Cara” does nothing to pull you into the action. Red Tiger could have easily made a follow-up that added something new to the original. Instead, they chose a simple copycat solution with absolute minimum alterations to the math model (as if trying to escape the reskin stamp).

The love story comes across as a bit weird to be honest, as the two explorers would probably have other things to worry about in the middle of the jungle. Anyway, the 2 character features can be powerful when combined, but the mediocre symbol value and ditto potential ruins what could have been a decent experience.

A screen full of wilds produces a 300x payout, which isn’t all that, and up to 2,101x your stake is the most you can get from the bonus round.
