Super Massive Infinity Reels is a decent enough effort though, but it’s shamed by an unusually low 1,024x potential.

Apparently, the curved/circular infinity grid is set inside “the most powerful celestial object in the universe”, but it looks like the inside of the disco ball to us. Potential reels are covered by orange, and these become activated one by one as the infinity mechanic plays out. This also increases the symbol multiplier. Wilds are duplicated 2 or 3 reels ahead, and they come with a special prize in the bonus round.

Whenever you land a win that utilizes all 3 of the default reels, the Infinity Reels mechanic kicks in. The reel set will then turn to the left, as a new reel opens up on the right-hand side. New reels are activated as long as you keep adding to the winning combo.

The symbol multiplier starts at x1 for each round, and it increases by +1 for each new reel you activate.

Star Wild can appear on all reels except the first, and the wild steps in for pay symbols to help generate winning combos. Wilds that land organically are duplicated to potential reels 3 reels to the right, and they thus come into use if these reels are activated by your winning streak. Duplicated wilds do not create new duplicates, however.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 6+ scatters in the same reel-adding sequence, and a new reel is added if you land 1+ scatter no matter if you win or not. You get 10 free spins, and the triggering scatters come with prize values that combine as the triggering winning streak ends. This becomes the Repeating Prize during the bonus round, and landing 5+ scatters one the same free spin awards +5 extra spins.

Wilds duplicate themselves 2 reels to the right in the bonus round, and the clone comes with the Repeating Prize.

You thus win the Repeating Prize if your winning streak activates a reel with a cloned wild. The Repeating Prize is doubled if a new wild is added on top of an existing cloned wild, and this also doubles the current symbol count.

We actually like Hot Rise Games' take on the Infinity mechanic, as the “grid reset fatigue” we’ve talked about many times is less noticeable with this curved/circular reel setup. Going on truly lengthy reel-adding winning streaks doesn’t happen very often however, which is a problem for this engine overall. The “infinite” reel-adding action is supposed to be the big attraction, but you mostly get dead spins or 2-6 reels added. This grinds down your patience after a while, and it could be solved by very low symbol values and larger reel-adding jackpots the further you go.

Whoever wrote the intro in the game sheet did a very good job at selling Super Massive Infinity Reels, and the cosmic “disco” visuals are kind of neat in a very simplistic way.

The Wild duplicate feature is clever, and it can be really helpful in prolonging winning streaks. This is not least the case in the bonus round, where each wild lands you a prize as well. The 1,024x potential is not all that impressive however, and it’s capped at €/£93,780. Overall, a decent Infinity Reels debut, but it’s hardly the big break this engine is looking for.
