Many volunteered to fight for glory in the massive arena of the Colosseum, and you get to meet one such fighter in Legends of the Colosseum Megaways from Synot. He looks way too handsome to be a slave, and his female companion could be the queen of the land for all we know. Anyway, this amounts to Synot’s Megaway debut, so let’s dig in.

You get Avalanche Respins, Wilds and Mystery Symbols in all stages of the game, and up to 86,436 ways to win, which is a bit below average. The Wheel of Fortune determines your destiny when the bonus round triggers, but you can respin to get more spins, a higher multiplier, and/or a higher level of minimum win ways. The multiplier is fixed, not progressive, and you can win up to 10,000x your stake.

It does not pay for less than 6, however, and it does not substitute for gold coins or bonus symbols.

The closed gate with a question mark symbol is the Mystery Symbol, and all instances of it turn into the same randomly chosen symbol type. The mystery symbol cannot turn into gold coins or bonus symbols, however.

Winning symbols are removed via the Avalanche Respins mechanic, and replaced by new and/or existing symbols dropping from above. This process repeats as long as you keep winning.

Review Summary

Sometimes a Megaways engine release is all it takes to get on the radar of players, and Legends of the Colosseum Megaways is a decent dynamic grid debut from Synot. The Avalanche feature is more satisfying with realistic gravity settings though, so symbols are not suspended in mid-air before dropping down. Overall, the visuals are decent, and the two main characters look like Hollywood stars we don’t recognize.

You get Mystery symbols and Wilds to help you out in all stages, which is hardly unusual, but the grid maxes out at “only” 86,436 ways to win.

This is a bit below average, but it hardly matters all that much. We like that you can respin to upgrade the bonus round, but it’s a risky thing to do many times. The gold coin win ways upgrade system is another nice touch, and the 10,000x potential is decent as well. We still doubt this will be a huge break for this developer though, but fans of Gladiator might wanna check it out.
