Hurricane Games has tried their hand in the crowded Western genre once before, but Cash Express didn’t make a very strong impression on us at least. Wild Moon Saloon is their second attempt, and it comes with cartoon characters and a decent Morricone-inspired soundtrack. The two installments are very different in the feature department though, as the first one was inspired by the Money Train range.

The action takes place in a typical quiet frontier town, and the bonus round takes you inside the Wild Moon Saloon from the title. You get 4 different random wild modifiers in the base game, and you get to pick extras to bring with you into the bonus round from a pre-feature card game. We have no complaints about the 5000x potential, but you need to get quite lucky with the bonus round extras since the regular single spin max win is 500x your stake.

Review Summary

We like Wild Moon Saloon better than Hurricane’s first effort in the wild west genre, although the prolonged pause after each win gets a bit annoying. The cartoonish visuals are decent, and the same goes for the soundtrack, but the Super Stake ante bet conditions need to be crystal clear. Does it merely “increase” your bonus round chances, or does paying double per spin actually double your chances. Hard to tell from the vagueness in the paytable.

The Mystery Bonus Wild features can be helpful those few times you actually get to see them, but don’t rely on this modifier to trigger all that often. We quite enjoyed the card picking game, as accumulating extras for the bonus round is always fun. Your destiny is largely determined by what extras you get, and how many, and bumping up the multiplier is probably a good idea. It’s a tough genre to compete in though, and this is hardly alpha gunslinger material.
