Nunchucks Chicken Review

We’re happy to report that Skywind Group has managed to strike just the right balance in this release, as many chicken-themed installments can quickly turn from humorous to annoying with all the poultry noise. You will have to tolerate plenty of base game dead spins in Nunchucks Chicken however, but it helps that the occasional Ninja Respins feature is capable of cracking the solid 10,000x potential.

You get mostly top-up wins from the Respins though, but plowing through plenty of base game spins in no-time is not a problem with the turbo switched on. The reel set is framed by a barn, and the Shuriken Showdown round goes on until symbols hit the barn roof. It’s all about accumulating bet multipliers, and with help from the ninja fox and kung-fu chicken modifiers, you’re looking at massive potential payouts in a highly unpredictable and entertaining feature.

Nunchucks Chicken Slot Features

You can turn on/off the Ante Bet between base game spins, and it costs 20 % more per spin if you turn it on. The benefit is that you double your bonus round chances. The 5 premium animal symbols pay between 4 and 10 x your stake for 5-oak wins, with the fox as the top-tier symbol. The nunchuck Wild steps in for all pay symbols to help complete wins, and it pays 40x your stake for 5 of a kind.

The chicken Scatter can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, and the Ninja Respins feature triggers when you land 2 scatters on the same spin.

You get a random starting multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x20 or x50, and the multiplier increases by +1 per respin. Indefinite respins play out until you land a winning combination, and whatever multiplier you’ve racked up is then applied.

Landing 3 chicken scatters on the same spin triggers the Shuriken Showdown Bonus Round, and it’s a sort of hold-and-win style feature that plays out on a cleared 6x6 grid. Only number symbols (1 to 100), crates, kung-fu chickens and ninja foxes may appear during the feature, and the crates do nothing but occupy positions. The Number values are accumulated in the total bet multiplier box seen above the grid, and the animal symbols come with modifiers.

The ninja Fox carries a bomb, and this bomb explodes all crates in view, making the remaining symbols drop down to the lowest possible positions. This frees up space, as the feature only ends when symbols remain on the top row after a symbol drop is finished.

Symbols always drop to the lowest possible positions, and also the 2 variants of the kung-fu chicken can help free up space.

The Nunchucks Chicken destroys all adjacent crates surrounding it. If number symbols are adjacent as well, these are collected and summed up, and the sum becomes a number symbol on the position directly below the chicken. Also, the nunchucks chicken adds a random value of +3 to +100 to that sum.

The Shuriken (ninja star) Chicken does the exact same thing to the surrounding symbols, but it doesn’t add a random value to the summed up number that’s created below. Instead, the Shuriken Chicken boosts this number by a random multiplier of x2 to x100, which can lead to a 10,000 number symbol at best.

Finally, non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, may take advantage of the Bonus Buy feature. This will set you back 100x your stake, and it takes you directly into the Shuriken Showdown Bonus Round with no triggering spin first.

The 200 Spins Nunchucks Chicken Slot Experience

We landed mostly dead spins for a while, until we finally hit 2 scatters on the same spin. This gave us a Ninja Respins round with an x2 starting multiplier, and we decided to purchase the Shuriken Showdown Bonus Round right after. You can see for yourself how it all played out by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

We see so many hold-and-win style games per month that it’s a very welcome breath of fresh air when a developer actually takes the time to do something different with the concept. With Nunchucks Chicken, Skywind clearly demonstrates that clever and interesting innovation is still very possible in this overcrowded genre, and they’ve even added a dash of humor to top things off.

The chicken noise is kept low-key as well, which is appreciated.

The base game is mostly dead spins with Ninja Respins top-up wins sprinkled in between, but solid payouts are possible if you’re lucky with the starting multiplier. The pace is excellent (with 2 turbo settings), and the Shuriken Showdown round is both highly unpredictable and potentially highly lucrative to the tune of 10,000x your stake. A ninja Fox can turn an uneventful feature around at the last second, while a single multiplier chicken can crack the win cap completely out of nowhere.

Pros

  • Ninja Respins w/ up to x50 starting multiplier
  • Shuriken Showdown w/ 3 modifier symbols
  • 100x Bonus Buy (not for UK players)
  • Win up to 10,000x your stake

Cons

  • Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
