The Irish Luck predecessor, Wild Wild Riches, has been a huge success for Pragmatic Play, so it’s no wonder they’re trying their luck with a follow-up. Wild Wild Bananas is a very similar game, but both the math model and the feature department have gone through some significant changes. At least they are significant enough to keep the reskin stamp at arms length, and the monkey beach theme comes with plenty of monkey business antics.

The theme is clearly inspired by Mowgli and the Disney classic ‘The Jungle Book’, and you’ll find similar cartoon characters in the form of a kid and jungle animals on the 3-3-4-4-4 grid. The core feature is still the money prize collect system, but the multiplier symbols have been ditched in favor of a bonus round grid expansion system. The 12,000x potential has been beefed up significantly, making this a sequel well-worth checking out.

The premium symbols pay between 1 and 4 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you win by landing at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right. The Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins, but wilds can only land on reels 1 and 2. Wilds play a central part in both bonus features as well, as we shall see below.

You will land Banana Money Symbols on reels 3, 4, and 5, and they come with prize values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, and 25x your stake.

The Money Collect system in this game is a bit unusual, at least compared to most similar features we have seen. To collect the above-mentioned money prizes and jackpots, you need to connect Wilds on reels 1 and 2 with adjacent banana symbols on reels 3 to 5. All banana/jackpot prizes on a connected line are then collected and paid.

You trigger the Bonus Round by landing wilds on reels 1 and 2, as well as a bonus symbol on reel 3. This gives you 10 free spins, and the bonus round comes with even more wild and banana symbols.

The expanded reels remain expanded for the duration of the bonus round, and they can go as high as 8 positions at the most. Pragmatic Play has a knack for changing and tweaking previous installments just enough to merit a new game. This is probably how they survive their extremely busy schedule, and Wild Wild Bananas is, in our view, a worthy follow-up to the highly popular Wild Wild Riches. The multiplier has been removed, but you are duly compensated by the potentially more lucrative grid expansion.

The name of the game is still the money prize collect system, which admittedly is a tad less exciting in the base game with no grid expansion nor multiplier symbols. Expanding the grid in the bonus round can be quite lucrative, however, and the 12,000x potential is more than twice what’s on offer in the original game. The “monkey business” charm is running high as well, but Wild Wild Bananas does come across as a tad too generic.
