Bison Blocks is a very fitting title for this game actually, as that is exactly what you get. The symbols slam down as the heavy-hitting blocks they are per spin, and winning symbols accumulate as all non-winning symbols are removed per cascade. This will expand the grid to give you 46,656 ways to win if you land 3 cascades in a row, and this winning symbol accumulation cascading feature plays out in all stages of the game.

The 6x4 grid is set against a typical North American prairie backdrop, which StakeLogic must have changed recently since our demo video features a somewhat unusual (for this theme) nocturnal forest backdrop (see further down in the review). The big highlight is the bonus round, which comes with a progressive win multiplier that only keeps building for as long as the feature lasts. The premium symbols pay between 1.5 and 10 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and Wild symbols step in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins. The wild symbol does not hold any value of its own in this game, but it can appear on any of the reels. Turning on the SuperStake ante bet feature will cost you twice as much per spin, and this increases your bonus round chances by an unspecified amount.

All non-winning symbols are removed via the Cascading feature, while the winning symbols (and wilds) drop to the lowest possible positions.

Review Summary

Kudos to StakeLogic for doing something different with the bison theme, and we really enjoyed how the symbol blocks slam into place. The pace of the game is excellent too, and not least with the turbo switched on, and the “reverse” twist on the usual Cascading mechanic is a neat touch as well. It makes the base game far more interesting that it would’ve been otherwise, although we have seen this feature more often than usual recently. Still, it’s always enjoyable to see what kind of win you can rack up via this system.

Things are taken to the next level when the win multiplier is introduced in the bonus round, and this makes lengthy cascades even more lucrative. This is not least the case after you’ve racked up a decent to solid multiplier, but this will not really happen every time, of course. The possibility is always there, however, and we have no complaints about the 15,000x potential either.

Overall, Bison Blocks is a highly enjoyable game, and well worth checking out if you’re tired of the North American animal cliches that are churned out all the time.
