The Twisted Tales series from iSoftBet has taken us on plenty of adventures, and Tales of Silver Megaways takes you onboard the pirate ship of what we presume is Long John Silver from the classic tale of Treasure Island. There’s no denying that iSoftBet has borrowed the template from a previous Megaways installment, namely Majestic Megaways, but the math model has been beefed up with a more solid 37,500x potential.

You get plenty of action commentary from the pirate captain sprinkled in here and there, and a Max Megaways modifier has been added to the mix as well. The cartoonish visuals are nicely done, but overall this release cannot escape coming across as a tad too generic and charmless. It didn’t leave a lasting impression, but you get tried-and-tested features combined with an unusually solid max win, so it’s hard to complain too much in that regard.

The premium symbols pay between 2 and 50 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you can land Jolly Roger Wild symbols on the horizontal top tracker reel only. Wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and they hold no value of their own. Winning symbols are removed and replaced by the Cascading Wins feature, and it goes on indefinitely until you hit a non-winning cascade.

You can land Mystery Symbols at any given time, and all mystery symbols in sight turn into the same randomly chosen matching symbol. The Max Megaways feature will trigger at random times as well, and it maxes out each reel to give you a spin with 117,649 ways to win.

The Bonus Round triggers from 4 scatters in view in the same cascading sequence, and this awards 12 free spins plus 5 additional spins on top of that per additional triggering scatter.

A win multiplier is introduced in the bonus round as well, and it starts at x1. The multiplier increases by +1 per cascading win, and it has no upper limit.

Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of the Bonus Buy feature. You can thus pay 75x your stake to get at least 4 triggering scatters on the spin that follows. The bonus buy increases the RTP to 96.98 % as well, and the feature has an organic hit rate of 1 in 305 spins.

Review Summary

Tales of Silver Megaways is a decent dynamic grid release in the pirate genre, but it comes across as too generic for our taste. Of course, it doesn’t help that this release is more or less a copycat of iSoftBet’s second venture with the licensed engine, Majestic Megaways. The random Max Megaways feature has been thrown into the mix for good measure, but it’s hardly enough to lift the experience out of the swamp of mediocrity.

The upgraded 37,500x potential helps though, and it’s far more solid than the average Megaways installment out there. The pirate captain action commentary is decent as well, but it too comes across as generic and soulless. The game runs like a well-oiled machine, and it does its thing well, but it didn’t really add up to a memorable experience nonetheless. Pirate fans looking for a massive potential might be intrigued though, and you can always test the demo game first to be sure.
