We haven’t seen too many classic-looking fruit machine-inspired releases from Thunderkick, so Triple Royal Gold is a welcome addition in that regard. The game plays out on a 3x3 grid on what looks like a 3D replica of a one-armed bandit, and you get Avalanche wins in all stages which is a bit unusual for a game like this.

The gameplay is decently entertaining because of the unusual features, but this is overall a pretty simple release. Lit up “bonus” below the grid via bonus token wins to get the bonus round, where winning symbols do something similar to increment the win multiplier. The 5,000x potential is solid for a classic slot, but this is hardly Thunderkick’s strongest release this year.

The classic fruit machine symbols pay between 1 and 5 x your stake for 3 of a kind wins, and the top-tier crown symbol also pays 1x your stake for 2 of a kind. Diamond Wild symbols can land anywhere, and they step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Winning symbols (as well as collected bonus tokens) are removed and replaced via the Avalanche mechanic, and this process repeats as long as you keep winning.

You need to spell out B-O-N-U-S below the reel to trigger the Bonus Round, and this is done via bonus tokens with the relevant letters. Each time a bonus token (they work like wild symbols) is part of a win the relevant letter or letters below the grid are lit.

They remain lit until the feature triggers, and the lit letters no longer appear as bonus tokens on the grid.

When all letters below the grid are lit, you win 8 free spins. Pay symbols that are part of a win create lit representations of the symbols below the grid, and you win +2 extra spins when all 5 symbols are lit. This also increments the win multiplier, from x1 to x3, x9 and finally x27. Non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can buy the bonus round for 120x your stake (96.42 % top-tier RTP).

Review Summary

It’s not unheard of, but it’s rare to see the avalanche win mechanic implemented on a classic-looking 3-reels slot.

Thunderkick has done a decent job with the presentation, as expected, and this is also the first release with a bonus buy feature from the Swedish developer. They have arrived late at the party in that sense, but hopefully they will continue on that route in future releases.

Spelling out BONUS below the grid to trigger the feature is also not unheard of, and it’s an okay deviation from the usual scatter trigger. The lit symbol system in the bonus round is somewhat original though, and it increments the win multiplier while also providing extra spins. The 5,000x potential is decent, but overall this comes across as a somewhat below par release from Thunderkick.
