Stacked Review

Betsoft is well-known for their visually pleasing animated video slots, and Stacked is no exception. The Magician on the right-hand side has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and there is no shortage of features in this game. The white dove on the left-hand side however, doesn’t look quite so smug and self-satisfied.

A quick glance at the math model will give any serious gambler the same expression, as Stacked is clearly a game for casual players. The hit rate is high, features trigger on a regular basis and there is plenty of variety in the bonus round. Closet-magicians will thoroughly enjoy what Betsoft has pulled out of their hat here, even though the potential is somewhat unimpressive even for a casual game.

Stacked Slot Features

The Secret Trick feature is triggered on random spins, and it gives you a random number of face-down mystery cards added to the reels. The mystery cards reveal the same randomly selected symbol once the reels stop. The wild symbol cannot be revealed this way, only regular pay symbols.

The Fix The Trick feature can sometimes come into play on non-winning base game spins, and the Magician will then do 1 of the 2 following numbers (or both):

• Up to 8 reel positions are chosen randomly by the Magician, and he will then turn them into a winning stack (even if the symbols don’t match) worth 3x the symbol’s ordinary value.

  

  If a wild is chosen, it’s worth as much as the highest value symbol.
• The Magician can nudge a symbol one position up or down, if this means that a winning combo is created.

The Mystery Wild will step in for all regular pay symbols, and it’s also the scatter symbol in this game. You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3 wild/scatters anywhere in sight, and this gives you 5 free spins. Before the feature starts however, you will get to choose the same number of face-down cards as the number of scatters you triggered the bonus round with.

The cards you choose will turn to reveal 1 of 4 possible extras you will bring with you into the free spins round. The extras up for grabs are as follows:

• Magical Multipliers - boosts your total free spins winnings with either 2x, 3x or 4x.
• Spectacular Spins - gives you 2, 3 or 5 extra spins during the bonus round.
• Instant Win - awards an instant payout of 5x, 10x or 20x, on top of the total bonus round winnings when the feature ends.
• Prismatic Reel - turns 1 reel fully wild for the duration of the bonus round.

You can get more than one of each extra per bonus round, except for the Prismatic Reel which you can only get one of.

We were a bit annoyed by the fact that features are not pre-loaded in this game. You will therefore have to wait while a counter goes to 100 % a few times (shame on you, Betsoft!).

Review Summary

Stacked is not pretending to be anything but a casual, low/medium variance game that caters to players looking to be entertained more than chasing big wins. Betsoft knows how to create visually engaging games, and fans of magic tricks have plenty to look forward to here. Hardcore high rollers will, of course, not even consider this game based on the math model alone.

The hit rate is almost 40 % in the base game, and as high as 57 % in the bonus round. The latter is triggered every 133 spin on average, which is fairly often, and the magic tricks trigger around every 17 and 31 spin. The stage is thus set for a feature rich experience, where payouts up to 664x can be landed. The highest base game max win is 100x however, so you’ll need the bonus round trickery for anything above that.
