Waterblox Gigablox Review

Peter & Sons could have easily rested on their proverbial ‘graphic design laurels’ pretty much from the get-go, as their style is so unique, quirky and interesting that they have nothing more to prove in that department. Still, they keep polishing and exploring the depth of possibilities their presentation offers, something that’s evident in both their Gigablox installments, not to say most of their back catalog.

Waterblox Gigablox is a joy to explore, and the shaman from Monster Blox is with you also this time. You don’t get the reel-expanding mechanic though, but random wild respins can lead to pretty decent repeat win payouts. Even more so in the bonus round, as you get the feature on each spin with a wild-collect multiplier increment system. The 7,900x potential is more or less the same, and fans are guaranteed to enjoy this follow-up.

Waterblox Gigablox Slot Features

The 4 premium animal symbols pay between 2 to 10 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins. The angry-looking deepwater fish is the Wild symbol, and it steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild pays the same as the top-tier octopus symbol.

Gigablox symbols up to 6x6 in size land on every spin, and they are counted as 1x1 symbols when part of a win.

The shaman dude on the right-hand side can transform up to 3 symbols into wilds at random times in the base game, and this also triggers a respin where the wilds move to new random positions. If gigablox symbols are turned wild, they turn into the same number of wilds as the block size. For example, a 5x5 gigablock will become 5 roaming wilds. If a roaming wild lands on a Gigablox during the respin, the whole block is turned wild.

You need 5+ scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and the number of free spins equals the number of triggering scatters. The good news is that Gigablox count as 1x1-sized scatters, and you get the Wild Respins feature on every bonus round spin.

This means that 1-3 symbols are turned wild per spin, triggering the roaming wild respin feature.

All wilds are collected in the left-hand side meter, and the win multiplier increments to x2, x3, x5 and x10 when 20, 45, 75 and 125 wilds have been collected, respectively. Each time you level up the multiplier (also seen on the left-hand side), you win +2 extra free spins, but keep in mind that wilds generated in the respins feature are not collected. Scatters also award extra spins.

Non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, don’t have to wait for the bonus round to trigger organically. You can simply purchase the feature via the Bonus Buy menu, and you get 3 options. Pay 50x your stake for 5 free spins, 500x your stake for 20 free spins or 140x your stake for a random amount of free spins.

The 200 Spins Waterblox Gigablox Slot Experience

You get to see a good while of the base game, before we purchase the bonus round. We went with the 5 free spins option, and it starts at 1:55 into the 4-minute highlights video. That may not seem like all that many spins, but all the wild respins you get do prolong the feature significantly. Anyway, you can check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

We commend Peter & Sons for the way they keep polishing their highly unique style, and Waterblox Gigablox is perhaps even more impressive than Monsterblox.

Waterblox Gigablox Slot Review 1982

This sequel is focused around the wild-transformation respins feature though, without the reel-expanding extra. Some players might miss this additional dynamic reels element, but the roaming wilds potentially creating massive amounts of wilds on the respin is a solid compensation.

This can lead to payouts up to 500x from a single spin, so pretty decent base game payouts can certainly come from this randomly triggered feature. It can take a while to collect enough wilds to upgrade the bonus round multiplier, so a large amount of free spins can make pretty a huge difference in terms of returns. The 7,900x potential is solid enough, but Peter & Sons’ installments tend to be a bit “slow-burning”, as opposed to, say, Hacksaw’s sudden megawin spikes.

Pros

  • Masterfully crafted Peter&Son-style visuals
  • Up to 6x6-sized Gigablox on all spins
  • Random wild transformation respin feature
  • FS w/ persistent wild respins and multiplier build-u
  • Win up to 7,900x your stake

Cons

  • Hard to get FS multiplier without loads of spins

Monster Blox - is the Gigablox debut release from Peter & Sons, and it’s a similar game both visually and featurewise. Collected scatters upgrade the bonus round multiplier, and you can win up to 7,485x your stake.

Lucky Neko Gigablox - is the somewhat underrated Gigablox debut from Yggdrasil, not least in the visual department.
